PDA calls on members to share their views on the role of a DPP

The PDA has launched a survey to ask pharmacist independent prescribers about their views on Designated Prescribing Practitioners (DPPs). The responses will support the PDA’s policies and stakeholder engagement activities regarding independent prescribers.

PDA Education launches support programme for trainee pharmacists

The PDA supports members in every stage of their career. In order to help trainee pharmacists with their assessment in June, the PDA has developed four programmes that are completely free to trainee members.

PDA hospital members meet to discuss pay, pensions, and being on-call

On Monday 18 March, PDA members working in hospitals across the four nations met to discuss issues of concern and how members can work together to achieve change.

ICTU Women’s Conference 2024

The Irish Congress of Trade Unions (ICTU) held its biennial women’s conference earlier this month to cover a wide range of issues that affect women. The PDA has been affiliated with the ICTU since 2020. PDA National Officer for Northern Ireland, Una O’Farrell attended the conference to see how workplace inequalities are addressed across trade unions.

Government must listen to the pharmacists’ representatives who understand patient safety risks when looking at the pharmacy technician agenda

The government is pressing ahead with their plan to allow pharmacy technicians to undertake PGDs (Patient Group Directions) despite concerns raised about the impact on patient safety.

PDA writes to Pharmacy Minister about the differences between pharmacists and pharmacy technicians

The PDA has written to Rt Hon Andrea Leadsom MP, Parliamentary Under Secretary of State (Minister for Public Health, Start for Life and Primary Care) to ensure that she is fully aware of the cumulative risks to patient safety that are now starting to build over time.
