The 2019 Welsh Pharmacy Awards took place on Thursday 23rd May at the Vale Resort, Glamorgan. The annual event recognises the pharmacy sector’s emerging talent, as well as the service delivered by pharmacist’s year after year.

The 20th Northern Ireland Healthcare Awards took place at Belfast’s Europa Hotel last month and coincided with the 2019 Northern Ireland Pharmacy Conference which took place that afternoon in partnership with the PDA.

We strive to improve the working lives of pharmacy students, pre-registration trainees and pharmacists. Last year we were able to deliver 19 workshops to pharmacy students across the country. We also attended the BPSA Annual Conference to support students.

Health Education England has announced a decision to cut funding for hospital trainee pharmacists (called pre-reg until end of summer 2021) placements by up to 25% from 2020 onward.

With more than 40,000 members, the Pharmacists’ Defence Association (PDA) is the largest pharmacy representative and leadership body for pharmacists and pharmacy students in the UK.
