The PDA Union has four regional committees made up of practising pharmacists from across sectors, employer and geography, as the local level of union democracy. If you want to contribute to the success of the UK’s largest pharmacists’ body, to help improve the working lives of pharmacists and make a difference to the pharmacy sector, now is the time to put yourself forward to stand for election to your PDA Union Regional Committee. Look out for the election nomination email from UK Engage, who are managing the election process.
Regional committees are elected every five years in accordance with the union rules. These positions are available to those who have held full membership of the PDA Union since before Sunday 30 November 2025. Students, Potential Pharmacists and Foundation Trainees, who all hold FREE memberships, are not eligible to participate in these elections. Candidates, their seconders and those that vote for those candidates must all be in the same region. Details of which postcodes are in each region are available here.
The PDA Union is committed to equality, diversity and inclusion and encourages candidates from all areas of the profession. Every eligible member, other than a member whose subscription is one calendar month overdue, or who is one-month overdue in the payment of any other money payable under or by virtue of these Rules, shall be entitled to participate.
The role of the Regional Committee member is a vital part of PDA Union. Your Regional Committee is made up of elected members, pharmacists like you, from different sectors of the profession who collectively and individually have responsibility for:
- Raising the profile of the PDA Union within your sector and region
- Sharing knowledge, expertise and challenges in relation to your pharmacy sector
- Recruiting new members to the PDA Union
- Communicating with other PDA Union members in your workplace/sector/region
- Giving feedback on policy issues and changes impacting on pharmacists
- Participating in campaigns and organising activities
- Representing PDA Union at conferences, events and seminars
- Overseeing Regional Committee activity and communications
We would like eligible members with the drive, skills and experience to assume these leadership roles by nominating themselves as candidates for election. Training will be provided. Minimum commitment of 3-6 days per year. These are voluntary positions.
There are a total of 49 seats available in this election. To support balanced representation from across the profession seats are allocated to those working in different sectors:

The term of office for theses positions is from 1 April 2026– 31 March 2031.
NB: Existing regional committee members and/or those previously co-opted, are eligible to be nominated to stand for election in 2026 alongside new member nominees. Each regional committee once formed will elect from amongst their members a regional committee chair and may also co-opt up to five non-voting additional committee members .
